I won't port LogBlock myself to mcAPI. Source code is available, so it shouldn't be to difficult for someone else to do it, also I'm still here. so I can answer questions. If there is more than one willing, that's up to you to handle that.

The reasons I take this step, are the usual: I quit playing Minecraft about 5 months ago and lastly I was struggling to keep up with updates. The developement of Guardian made slow progress, so I fear it won't be ready to fully replace LB in time.

    Description:

LogBlock logs block changes into a MySQL database. Block changes can be placed or destroyed block, explosions, burned blocks, sign text changes, chest access, leaves decay etc.
It can be used as griefer identification tool, to find out who build a particular building, or even roll back changes by certain players. Other purposes can be e.g: Undoing of forest fires
All additional features are optional, to keep the database as short as possible. All database actions run in their own threads to avoid server lags.
The use of permissions plugin (or any clone) is possible, but not necessary.
Uses Spout for chest logging (but it's fully optional, and there is no need for the client mod at all).

    Features:
    • Logging for block placing, block braking, fire, explosions, leaves decay, signtexts, lava flow and chest content
    • Very mighty commands system, not only allowing to rollback and redo, but also to tp to blockchanges, delete log ingame etc. Full list of commands.
    • Many parameters for lookup/rollback/redo/tp/clearlog commands: Block changes of one ore more player, in a specific area, in a world edit selection, specific block types only, block changes older or newer that a specific date, destroyed/created block only, in a different world and combinations of all these parameters. Full list of parameters.
    • Rebuilding map after importing a backup (/lb redo)
    • Last parameter to use the parameters of the last command
    • Quick ingame lookup of block history a wood pickaxe or a bedrock block.
    • All commands accessible from console (exept tools :D)
    • Custom queries for tools.
    • Different tool modes (lookup, rollback, redo, writelogfile and clearlog)
    • Saves block data like wool color, log type, torch adjustment, etc
    • Multiworld and multiserver support (some servers sharing the same database)
    • BigBrother log import
    • Loggable super pickaxe plugin (not to confuse with WorldEdit's super pickaxe)
    • API
    • Webstats
    Why to use LogBlock:

Example commands: (thanks to tha d0ctor, read more about commands here)

/lb rollback player fire since 1d3h – rolls back fire 1 day 3 hours
/lb rollback player fire since 1d3h area 15 – rolls back fire 1 day 3 hours within a radius of 15 blocks

    /lb rollback player thad0ctor since 1h - rolls back thad0ctor 1 hour
/lb rollback player thad0ctor since 1d area 5 – rolls back thad0ctor actions for the last day within 5 blocks
/lb rollback area 10 since 1h30m - rolls back all modifications within 10 blocks since the list 1 hours and 30 mins
/lb rollback area 10 before 06.11.2011 - roll back all changes in an area of 1o before June 11th, 2011
/lb rollback player thad0ctor since 05:36:00 - roll back all changes of thad0ctor since 05:36 (server time)

    How to post error messages:

I won't aswer questions to general MySQL setup/installation/what is MySQL (there are lots of good tutorials out there, use google)
Please read the installation guide before asking a question about installation problems.
Please read the FAQ before posting a error report. It may be solved there.
In case of rollback or lookup problems: Type /lb savequeue and try again (when it's fixed then, it was a consumer problem, see FAQ)
When you post error messages, it's important to paste the whole stack trace!

if my world is in a folder, will this still work?
    worldnames: [data/world8, nether]
or would i just do [world8, nether] ?
    Also i'm getting a "#1044 - Access denied for user 'MYNAME'@'localhost' to database 'lb-main'"
when attempting to create a database using phpmyadmin? I'm guessing my server host didn't setup the permissions correctly so I can have access to create a database?

    DiddiZ

Just the world name without the path.

Yes, it seems like that you don't have the rights to create databases. Maybe you can use an existing one?

    http://pastebin.com/jJRBistK <-server.log
    http://pastebin.com/cFuef7zq <-tables.sql
http://pastebin.com/itpPkyMj <-config.yml (will remove path on next attempt)
^this is before I tried removing the path and attempting to use a database that already exists.
in the phpmyadmin panel I simply clicked the default db (on left-click panel side) --> import --> tables.sql. That ran fine. Reloaded server with logblock.jar in plugins and the plugins/logblock folder all set. will attempt later without the path for the world8.

LogBlock also disabled some plugins on reload or at least worldguard stopped fire spread after reload with logblock.jar enabled b/c some stuff caught on fire that wouldn't have with worldguard on. [server.log w/ plugins running after reload http://pastebin.com/DD8ZaDm6 ]

@DiddiZ , Just checking how things were going. I was considering to start using this and if you had any cautions for me hehe. I tried BigBrother today after not using for ages. First thing I got was out of date errors hehe.

    DiddiZ

The error log indicates, that there is a problem while connecting to the db.
Is port 3306 forwarded to the MySQL server?
Is the MySQL server config set on local connections only?

This can be caused by the nullpointer exception. The reload seems to stop then.
I added the missing nullpointer check. (Next release will have a lot bugfixes :D)
I planned to release today the v0.6, but my test server was down for nearly the entire day, so I can't test. (And I don't want to release an untested version:D)
I'm aiming for tomorrow (but I'm not like CraftBook:p)

hey, a little question, is it possible to get this feature -> a notification when someone destroys certain blocks, for example gold blocks (sorry again for my bad english :D)

  11. Offline

    DiddiZ

It's not really a notification, but you can do:
    Code:
    /lb block gold_block 9999
But for future, I'm maybe going to write a plugin that will scan the log for possible grifers.

it turns out that the download is a ZIP file need to be converted in to a .jar excubital file. i cheat when i do it.
i copy a exc.jar file open it and the .ZIP in an extractor and swap-out the contents save rename the .jar file to pluginname and thats it real easy.

  23. Offline

    DiddiZ

That is an Internet Explorer bug. Jars are downloaded as zips. You only have to rename the zip to jar, because it's already a jar, only with a false extension. My first thougt when I read your error message was this, but for me .zip files in the plugins folder are ignored and don't lead to an error.

  24. how close is it, if at all coming, is Chest Access Logs from being apart of LogBlock?
I was using BB, but it started causing some super lag every hour after the database his 100k actions. The only solution i was given there was to empty teh database when it got too full... which is not a good solution, especially if it has to be done every hour, manually (not much of a record).

So i'm coming here in hopes that it will provide me with the speed and non-lag-causing effects i'm looking for

    DiddiZ

Chest logging is still in planning phase. I'm thinking about an efficient way to do this. And I'm trying to differentiate between a player who only looks inside, a player who donates something and a griefer who actual steals the content.

  26. ah yeah... personally, i would only care if they took something out (as i'm sure most people would feel the same way), but i can definitely see the use of the other actions.

Does anyone have a list of what each data/type id in the sql table refers to?

  29. Offline

    DiddiZ

Yes, you can either rollback all explosions:
    Code:
/lb rollback player environment 1 hour
    or only in an area:
    Code:
    /lb rollback area 10 1 hour
Hm, I should code a rollback player area, would be helpfull, too.

    [MERGETIME="1299662349"][/MERGETIME]
But atm I can only tell, when some one opens a chest, the hooks aren't done yet.
Anyway I'll implement the main chest logging code the next days.

Is there a way to make this work with worldedit? Maybe not the //set and stuff as that can be thousands of blocks, but the super pickaxe isn't picked up by this. I'm not sure if this is possible, and if it is, how much it'd hit the performance.

No, it's not possible. Pay attention to whom you give WE permissions.
