A new CraftBukkit Recommended Build 1.2.4-R1.0 (#2126) that provides Minecraft 1.2.4 compatibility, many bug fixes and critical (crash) exploit fixes is now available. As always, please remember to backup your servers before updating, just in case. As this is our first 1.2 Recommended Build, updating is highly recommended.

Will plugins break with this build?
Unless the plugin developers of your plugins have been keeping up with Bukkit development, plugins will most likely be broken due to the recent optimisation and cleaning of our code. However, if the plugins you use have already been updated to work with at least 1.1-R7 or 1.2.3-R0.1, then you should be fine.

    What is a Recommended Build?
A Recommended Build has gone through extensive testing and should not have any known issues. These builds are for Server Admins who want peace of mind when updating their server to the latest Minecraft update. We'll do our best to ensure that Recommended Builds only have completed features and completed API before being promoted, though we cannot ensure that a Recommended Build will have all the API needed to fully utilise newly added features in a Minecraft update. Although we go through great pains to ensure that these builds will not cause any issues, we highly advise you test them on a test server before deploying to production. Recommended Builds are naturally promoted after several Beta Builds have been promoted, and thus are promoted less frequently than Beta Builds.

    To summarise, a Recommended Build:
    • Has been extensively and thoroughly tested, so should not contain any major or minor bugs. However, we can't provide any guarantees as there is no possible way for us to be aware of all issues before they are discovered.
    • Has complete features.
    • Has complete API.
    • However, may not have all the API or features to cover what is added by a Minecraft update.
    • Is naturally promoted after several Beta Builds have been promoted.
    • Will be promoted if we find issues in a previous Recommended Build.
    Known Issues:
    • None
For more detailed information on what is contained in this update, please see the changelog here

So why is the current Stable build newer than the Beta build?

Your opinion? How is it your opinion that Setting a plugin as a softdepend on another plugin does not make the plugin load after that plugin. I'm sorry, but if softdepending one plugin to another does not cause that plugin to load after then how can you be sure your plugin load order is happening properly?

Attempting to say that something is your opinion when it is very clearly a case of Causality is probably one of the silliest things I've heard of. It can't be your opinion. My statement is either wrong, or it's right. There's no room for an opinion on whether it's a plugin or bukkit issue. If you can prove that this issue does not exist, then do so. However I have my own proof that shows:

FACT: softdepend is currently broken and does not work properly in all circumstances. This is shown by the log I supplied where one of my plugins softdepends on dynmap yet it loads before (Bukkit logic is what chooses which plugins to load, and has nothing to do with anything I can change in the plugin itself).

FACT: I provide a workaround for this BECAUSE bukkit has not fixed it. That does not mean it is not a bug, it just means that I know how to provide workarounds for things that shouldn't be broken in the first place.

Thanks Wolvereness for clearing up the issue.

If we have been using a vanilla server since the release of 1.2.4 will we be able to install Bukkit and keep the map as is or will we have to start our map over/ use an edit program to keep the current map?

Do not mean to rush you guys at bukkit, but how long will it take for a compatible update will be out? Thank you Bukkit!

This is a compatible update. This thread is announcing a version of CraftBukkit that's compatible with the most recent version of Minecraft (1.2.4).

I also find it kind of hilarious that this RB doesn't have the new Wood Planks implemented properly. Woops!

    You can keep your map

We've had Beta builds for 1.2.3. 1.2.4 was a MAJOR bug fix for Minecraft and CraftBukkit, and we accounted for the previous beta's as beta's for this.

None (not using yet), but there are (which I think is normal) small issues on http://leaky.bukkit.org/ , that's what I ment.

    Thank you bukkit team [cake]!

But what is those "connection-throttle: 400" good for (bukkit.yml)?
(Make the connection throttle configurable and disable-able (useful for testing))

Does this mean increasing will send more packages per second to the clients for building up the world faster?

???? the load order is done by bukkit, if you have softdepend in a plugin it means that the plugin should load AFTER the sofdepended plugin.

If that is not the case the bug is in bukkit, so it either needs to be fixed or that option totally removed.

Please make an apology about this for your own mistake of misspelling of "softdepend" as "softdepends".
FACT: The wiki shows that it should not have an s at the end.

The colour signs as explained in the help.yml did not work for me (CB1.2.4Rel, NO plugins):
If I exchange those given '$' by '§' the colors are there.
Maybe '$' is usable if some special plugin is installed?
    Code:
    general-topics:
        Colors:
            shortText: Colors
            fullText: |
                §00 §11 §22 §33 §44 §55 §66 §77
                §88 §99 §aa §bb §cc §dd §ee §ff
            permission: topics.colors
Those (bad language ^^) yml format drives me crazy.
But if you use always 4 spaces for each alignment it works fine.

    Edit:
Without permission manager this command will only be show in the /help to OPs.
Just add the node topics.colors to the desired user/group.

    Great improvement ;)

Converting of the map takes some time. Just have a look in the console of your craftbukkit server.
A very small world on a decent computer will be ready after some minutes so be patient.

Lol I expected a beta build first, since there are many minor bugs left.
But I don't care if it is recommended or beta anyway.
And nice to know it passed an extensive test after all. ;)

Also thanks @ feildmaster for latest engagement with bukkit improvements!
And thanks @ EvilSeph for caring about bukkit in addition to the employment at Mojang.

I hope all those crybabies bawling for 'their' beta / rb are silent now...
