In the knowledge base of Bukkit Dev it says this for projects that have been abandoned and the developer has dropped off the face of the site... But I can't seem to find any place to create a report about the project on Bukkit Dev, am I missing something or are these forums the place to do that? If the latter, then i'll edit this post and post a reply with the information needed.

    Thanks :)

Do you want to pick it back up? If it's not licenced, you're free to do so (since the author is gone).

The project is licensed (GPLv3) and the source code is on github. Is there any official way I can take over the project on BukkitDev? As I have proof of me sending the maker of it an email over a month ago with no response and the last time he was on the Bukkit forums was almost two months ago.

You can just make a new project (if the licence allows it) and copy all source code into there. Fix the errors, and release under another name (would be nice if you mentioned the original author)

The report button is in the very bottom right corner of any project:

If the plugin has been inactive for months and you've sent the author messages and waited a substantial (Weeks+) period of time and the license the plugin is released under allows for derivative works then you can create a new project in which you credit the original author(s) and explain that it's a forked continuation due to author inactivity and release under a compatible license. I think that covers everything.

Not sure why I didn't see that, thanks.

Okay so I did do things right, thanks for the information. :)
