Mojang have just released an update to Minecraft, bringing us to 1.2.4.

This update is primarily a bug fix release but does include some nice improvements as well:
    Fixed:
    • Made placing half blocks on existing half blocks (to make a full block) easier
    • Limit framerate on menu screens, no longer uses 100% cpu and make my computer melt
    • Fixed fatal crash for converted worlds to anvil, when there’s blocks at max height
    • Fixed an old bug with signs clearing text while you’re editing them in SMP
    • Fixed crash when logging in while there are blocks at maxheight at spawn
    • Fixed TNT ghosts in multiplayer
    • Fixed storage minecarts dropping enchanted items
    • Fixed crashes on invalid server addresses when joining a server
    • Fixed entities being uninteractable if they existed at login (Multiplayer)
    • Fixed dupe exploit with paintings
    • Fixed furnaces and dispensers dropping enchanted items
    • Fixed the “flickering” of chat as it vanishes off the screen
    • Fixed text rendering over items in the container screens
    • Fixed exploit with jungle saplings (turns other saplings into jungle ones)
    • Fixed launcher opening minecraft dir if the path contains a space
    • Fixed an off-by-one lighting bug
    • Fixed block transmuting (turning one block into another via pistons)
    • Fixed placing mushrooms in daylight, where they can’t survive
    • Fixed redstone lamps dropping powered block items when destroyed while on
    • “save-all” (server) now works even when you have toggled “save-off”
    • Fixed turning half-blocks into full-blocks while you’re standing on them
    • Fixed seed displaying in F3 debug when the seed is unknown (multiplayer)
    • Fixed villager texture changing clientside per profession
    • Fixed falling off ledge corners while holding shift
    • Fixed players falling when reconnecting to servers where they were previously flying
    Added:
    • Chat history and much better chat editing
    • A few new decoration blocks
    • “Back” and “Quit” buttons to OutOfMemoryScreen
    • Made cats more realistic (read: probably annoying). I hope it’s enough to cancel out any joy you may receive from the previous feature!
    • Added a “minimal” debug menu for testing with. Shift+F3 to hide the graphs.
This is just a short announcement to let you know that we are aware of this and are working on it as I type this. Please note: Minecraft 1.2.4 has bumped the protocol version, so it is incompatible with 1.2.3.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

I think u missed some informations. The Bukkit-Team joined Mojang. Mojang = a company. And employees in a company normally don't work on weekends because they work on weekdays u know? Maybe a bit on saturday .. idk..

So: lets wait and use the Dev Builds or lets wait and SHUT UP!

I did not say "main source of income". I said "a source of income", do not try to lead my argument ad absurdum by exaggerating what I wrote. It seems this was also the only thing you took from my post because the very first reply is again using the merger as main reason why it should be faster to develop an RB now than ever before. While the reality of the business world is just that: I merger ALWAYS decreases productivity and effectiveness of both parties involved for usually six months to a full year until the merger actually pays off.

Also it seems weird, dare I say it spoiled, that you write "because i really don't like using dev builds" and at the same time you demand a faster development of a community effort based product. The devs (yes, now employed by Mojang, but practically after only one month of employment still working the same way as before) NEED community feedback and community testing just as much as ever. Right now Mojang still has the mass-user, the single player as a target customer to deal with, meaning the millions that do NOT use Bukkit or depend on it, meaning "their" updates have priority over bukkit. And until the consolidations between Bukkit and Mojang are finalised that will not change. Especially when the merger practically came simultaneous with a huge update of vanilla Minecraft itself. I am not saying I approve of this, but I am saying that it is unreasonable to somehow assume just because the ownership of Bukkit change, every aspect of their work routines and communications have changed the very same day as well. Because that would have been the very first time in the history of management that this could have been pulled off.

To make this short: you did not "buy" Bukkit's product, you do not help them develop their product by testing it ergo you have zero entitlement to ANYTHING, especially not their work schedule.

Thing is the programers at bukkit and mojang work together, so they should of come of came out with it sooner.

    1. Download the build you want from here http://dl.bukkit.org/downloads/craftbukkit/
    2. Rename it craftbukkit.jar
    3. Completely stop your server
    4. Backup your server files (such as world and plugin files)
    5. Use filezilla to navigate to your server's root folder (the one with craftbukkit.jar in it)
    6. Replace the craftbukkit.jar on your server with the new one you just renamed
    7. Start server

I know for a fact many of my plugins area dead and gone for good. I can't even run them on Bukkit 1.1 R4. I may end up giving up minecraft because these devs keep giving up their projects.

It appears you're no longer to ask for mod updates on the MC forum. Interesting...

Has anyone even tried the dev build? I just updated my server with it and ALL (or at least most) of the plugins, none of which I updated, still work. I'm not sure what the problem is.

Its only been 3 days since the 1.2.4 update and they had an update for 1.2.3 already so get your facts right.

Actually, that was a beta. They never released a recommended build. Facts straightened.

I really hate to indulge trolling, or event to participate in useless discussions, however, the last recommended build was released on March 1st, and predated 1.2.3. No recommended build was released during the timeframe where 1.2.3 was relevant.

The point is, now that Minecraft and Bukkit are both Mojang, their release cycles should become coordinated. I would like to believe that they will. Its asinine to break the server every time you update the client. Its also foolish to expect this would happen within a month of the announcement.

I would like to believe that the vanilla server and the bukkit server lines will eventually merge, and we won't have such a disconnect.

I would like to believe that Mojang will develop a stable API so that every new feature implemented will not break every other feature, and that every minor point release will not require every mod to be recoded.

I would like to believe that a game that is no more graphically intense than "Doom' could be coded in a fashion that that did not require a top of the line gaming machine to run.

But then, I used to watch X-Files regularly, so I like to believe in crazy things.

Every link for the 1.2.4 builds have been broken. I keep getting a 500 error. Am I the only one experiencing this or have I missed something?

-__- I finally got my little server up and running on 1.1, only to have 1.2.3 break it for two and a half weeks. Silly me, I thought that tonight I could update to 1.2.3 and get all my users back and start spreading the word. . .I guess not :(
    Shame. . .

    No, no, no!
Only 4 people were hired by Mojang. They're working on Minecraft itself, and a new API, as their day job.

Those 4 are still working on the Bukkit project, (which is not, and never will be owned by Mojang), along with:

a LOT more people who are on the Bukkit staff, http://forums.bukkit.org/XenStaff/
and dozens (hundreds?) more volunteers who contribute ideas, code, bugreports, and other assistance.
These people were NOT hired by Mojang. (and would appreciate it if you stopped making that mistake).

(All of the above is based on Evidence in the atlassian bugtracker, and mojang's blog posts and twitter feeds.)

Yes, that would be nice. Really really nice. Unbelievably welcome. It would spread peace throughout the land. (Mostly)

Everyone gets mad, but they are too stupid to actually try out the dev builds - they are working fine, along with hundreds of working plugins. Idiots.

Just try to use BuildCraft or IndustrialCraft on this dev release !
Don't think all server are the same for all other users.....

The only thing that I am asking for is to only have a new major update every 6 month. To avoid to be upgrading server and mod every month....

Good coded game should not be broken for a bug fixe ! And at this time we need stability, bug fixes, not new content...

    Dear Asshat,

Bukkit are volunteers, not your slaves. When you pay them, Then you can demand an answer. Until then get lost, Your just utterly disrespectful. Until you spend 4 hours a day helping the Bukkit team in some way, You also have no right to complain. They are giving you there hard work for FREE, Meaning your a moocher.

Do you ever read the dl.bukkit.org? There putting out about 5 attempts a day at fixing the new bugs, this isn't dawdling. Why don't you get off your lazy ass and help them, instead of being disrespectful and ungrateful.

And regarding donations, donations are voluntary not a service or source of money you can expect from players. And in fact, You wouldn't have a server to even receive donations for if bukkit didn't exist. So you have no right to complain about free software your collecting money from the use of. You have no idea how fucked you would be if Bukkit decided to start charging a subscription to use Bukkit or decided to close the project because of douche bags like you.

I have completely no respect for those like you who disrespect the Bukkit team. In fact, Go use back to using Vanilla. You don't deserve the right to use bukkit after how you treat the staff here at bukkit.

    What i'm pretty much saying is;
You have no right or claim to Bukkit, its services or the efforts of Bukkit volenteers/staff. Its free, Thus meaning you have no right to complain. If you don't like it, go back to using Vanilla or Canery.

Its really nice that some new CraftBukkit 1.2.4-dev-versions (#2120) are out now. Thank you for your work!!
If only those dl.bukkit.org site would NOT show an 500 error I could figure out WHAT may be the latest changes.
Maybe it could be possible to add the latest changes somehow in the root folder of the *.jar ?
So we dont have to guess what we will get ;)

  23. Not to be rude or disrespectful or anything like that BUT why the hell can't mojang give Bukkit some help to release a stable bukkit version since some of Bukkits staff is working at Mojang ON Minecraft :S It would make everything so much easier if they just gave them the stuff they needed to fix it (or if they are already doing it then never mind).

  24. Thank you, bukkit-team for your (hard) work!
I look forward to a beta-build or eben a rb,
until then, dev-release runs fine for me... ;)

  25. I wish everyone would just take it easy. Being mad doesn't help anyone, does it?
Thanks for your great work bukkit-team!

  26. normally, one of two causes:
    a) the server is still running
    b) your host has locked the file in order to make sure that you don't run an unapproved file that you simply renamed to "craftbukkit.jar"

if you are running minecraft with a minecraft server hoster, most likely b)

i am personally running bukkit on a VPS. it's more work initially, but it gives me the freedom to alternate between any bukkit or vanilla server freely.

@ bukkit team: thanks for your great work. my plugins have been running smothly since 1.8, with minor adjustments required. great work!

Calm down, it could be a few days, or it could be a few weeks for a RB, look at 1.0. That took weeks due to the fact that there was so much to add.

Java is a complicated langauge and the Bukkit team are doing a great job providing us with a FREE program to enhance our Minecraft experience.

You can also follow their Twitter if you want to know what is going on with updates and bug fixes.

where can i get the new build for minecraft 1.2.4?

    CRAZYxMUNK3Y

The newest/latest build will always be found here at dl.bukkit.

But bair in mind, if it is not a RB, it will more than likely contain bugs, and being the dev builds as they currently they. It may have more.

Will the bugs be permanent or only until the next build?
